Ever wondered what someone is talking about when they mention probiotics and prebiotics?! Here are the answers….⠀

Probiotics are the happy and delightful good bacteria living in your gut. Yippee! You need them for your overall health and wellbeing (very important!) and they need you.⠀

Prebiotics are the foods that these happy and delightful bacterias need to survive. ⠀

I say happy and delightful because hopefully that is exactly what they are…. though they can become unhappy and less pleasant if they’re being taken over by the bad bacteria – this happens when you’re eating the wrong foods! You’ll notice this when your digestive system isn’t performing very well… maybe some aches and pains, perhaps the runs or a traffic jam.

How can I get more probiotics you ask? Easy! You just need to add a little extra something to the side of your plate. Foods such as Tempeh, Sauerkraut, Kombucha, Kimchi, Pickled Vegetables or Sourdough Breads pretty much cover it! Plus the classic one – Yoghurt, though watch out for all the added sugar… a natural Greek Yoghurt is ideal and you can easily add some whole fruit instead to sweeten it up.⠀

How can I feed my happy probiotics? Easy! By adding some of the following to your diet – garlic, onions, bananas, leeks, asparagus, berries, wheat bran, or chicory root. You’ll also find that some plant base collagen powders also contain some great prebiotics. Adding some collagens to your smoothies is an easy and tasty way to feed your tummy x 2. ⠀
