11 Jun THE SEVEN DIMENSIONS TO WELLBEING
Human Wellness is the pursuit of continued growth and balance in each of these seven dimensions. So what are they?
It’s one of the most common questions I’m asked as a Holistic Wellness Coach… What is Wellness?
Holistic Wellness is more than just health, exercise and nutrition, in fact, it’s multidimensional.
Every person’s Wellness is broken down into seven key elements.
- Spiritual Needs
- Physical Needs
- Emotional Needs
- Career Needs (or Purpose)
- Intellectual Needs
- Social Needs
- Environmental Needs
Having an understanding of these base line dimensions allows you to better care for yourself. Knowing yourself and what you need assists you in becoming the very best person you can be for yourself, your family and your community.
There are times when one or more of these dimensions is more prominent than others, however neglecting a dimension can have adverse effects on your health.
As each of us are different and unique, we all need to nurture these dimensions at different levels. It’s helpful to our friends and family if we can communicate to them, what our needs are and when we might need help getting what it is we need to be fulfilled.
Some times we feel unbalanced, when this happens, we should reflect on each of these dimensions and see which one or two or more, are needing some energy to boost them back up again. Self assessment in these areas helps us to learn more about ourselves but also to communicate with others about who we are as a person.
Sometimes it’s difficult to understand your Wellness needs and you need some guidance to get you back up and running again. Support might come from your family, your friends or your work colleagues or of course your Wellness Coach. Someone who can essential look at what’s currently happening, work with you and get you back to where you want to be.
Remember, there is no one size fits all in the pursuit of Happiness. You are different and unique and that is an amazing thing!
